FAITH IS PRACTICAL LIVING

The Bible says that the just shall live by his faith, and that is what Abraham did; he lived a life of practical faith in walking with God. As a result, he became known as the Father of faith.

As the descendants of Abraham through Christ Jesus, we are called to also walk in the same faith in order to receive the promises and blessings of the father of faith. When we follow this same faith that Abraham exhibited in God, we will have the same results and bring glory to God.

Here are three lessons we learn from Abraham’s faith:

  1. Abraham never knew where he was going when God called him.

Hebrews 11:8 says, “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.”

Abraham acted by faith to the call of God upon his life. When God told him to move his family not knowing the destination, he obeyed. Faith will require us also to move step by step with God till we arrive at the expected end. If we live as Abraham did, we will also enjoy the fruit of our faith and the blessings he enjoyed.

2. Abraham made a sacrifice unto God.

Genesis 22:2 says, “And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.”

Abraham knew that God’s promise was to be fulfilled through Isaac yet he was willing to offer him up as a sacrifice at God’s request. Abraham obeyed God knowing that God had the power to bring back the dead. Learn this lesson from Abraham if you want to experience that kind of breakthrough in your life.

3. Abraham engaged God in prayer.

Genesis 15:8-9 says, “And he said, LORD God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it? And he said unto him…”

When Abraham was anxious about his childlessness, he prayed to God about it and God showed him what to do. The Bible tells us not to be to anxious about anything but in prayer making our requests known unto God. If we also pray like Abraham did, God will hear and answer us bringing to pass His promises for us.

Saints of God, even as we follow after Abraham’s faith, trust God even if you don’t see the full picture of your life, be willing to do everything God tells you to do and never stop praying.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, I do not lean on my own understanding and I trust You completely to direct my path, in the name of Jesus.

Amen!
