JOURNEY INTO THE BLESSING

In Genesis 12, God shows up in Abram's life with very specific commands and staggering promises. God's first word to Abram is "Go." It's important to note that Abram is given a two-sided instruction: both to "go from," and to "go to."
God calls Abram to leave behind three things: his country, his extended family or people group, and his father's household. He was to go to an unnamed land which God will show to him.
Abram could not stay where he was and still obey God. He is being called to leave His culture in order to commit himself to the Lord. In going, though, God will promise to do three things for Abram. V.2
This could be translated like this:
1) Let me make of you a great nation,
2) Let me bless you, and
3) Let me make your name great.
This last promise certainly contains some irony. The quest for a name had been the driving ambition of the “sons of God” in Genesis 6 6:1-4 and of the architects of the Tower of Babel in Genesis in Genesis 11:1-9.
Now God will do for Abram what others had so selfishly sought but failed to attain.
The last words of verse 2 may be translated “so that you shall be a blessing.”
Abraham is to be a great nation, be personally blessed, and receive a great name – so that he may be a blessing. Certainly, this is true for us today Galatians 3:14, this is talking about the seed of Abraham. Galatians 3: 7-9 It tells us that God preached the blessing to Abraham first. Abraham believed the word from God and he became very rich according the three promises God made to him. And now let’s also verse 29, its reads: “And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
The source of the Blessing the word of God (The gospel) The writer of Hebrews says,
“Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” (Hebrews 4:1-2)
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I believe your word, I get out of my country, my kindred and from my father’s house to where you are leading me in Jesus name.
Oh Lord, fortify me today by your Spirit to obey your word in all things and to mix it with absolute faith for the blessing to come upon me and my household in Jesus name.
Amen
