Life In The Spirit

The spirit realm is a world apart from the natural life we live. When you are born into this world of your parents you grow up learning to live in the natural. But when a person is born of the Spirit of God, he/she learns to live supernaturally. That is what we call “life in the spirit.’

When the Holy Spirit comes, he gives you the ability to live and function spiritually. When Isaiah prophesied about the coming of the Messiah, he mentioned that the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. Isaiah 11:2

The prophet goes on to tell us how Christ would function through the leading of the Holy Spirit. “And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: But with righteousness shall he judge.” Isaiah 11:3-4

And so, even though he was born of the Virgin Mary and lived in this world, He lived and functioned fully by the Spirit of the Lord. His understanding and all of His five senses were quickened by the Spirit of the Lord.

Praying for people to receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit is not the problem. One of the biggest challenges is for recipients to live in and by the Holy Spirit. That is why Paul admonishes us to continuously be filled with the Spirit. Life in the Spirit can also be described as a way of setting our hearts on the leadings of the Holy Spirit. Which was what Jesus did throughout His three and half years on earth.

PRAYER:

As you pray today, yield yourself to the Spirit of the Lord that came upon Jesus. Ask Him to fill you afresh, quicken your sense, and your heart to following His leading in everything you do today. We want to be like Jesus, we will not judge after what we hear, or what we see. But as the Holy Spirit guides us, we will do the will of the Father.
