Life is a precious and sacred gift from God and must be treated as such. JESUS is the Life of God personified and that is what Christmas is all about. The story of Christmas is the story of Jesus coming to earth to die and give His life, so we can be delivered from the dominion of Satan and live a full and satisfying life.
John writing about Jesus said: In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:4-5
Along with the Psalmist I want to openly declare, “I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139: 14)
God graciously creates, sustains and cares for our life at every stage from the time we are born until old age.
This morning when I woke up to prepare myself for church, the Lord once again began to give me a new appreciation for His gift of life. Today I want you to join me in thanking God for your life. You know we can have something and never appreciate its value until we lose it, even so is this precious gift called “Life.” What do you think the devil is after, and why? Let me tell you my story maybe this will help you understand and appreciate God’s gift of life.
There was a time a time in my life as a young boy before I went into fulltime ministry when the devil came and lied to me. He said I was good for nothing and that I was not good enough to live. He planted a seed of death into my mind that haunted me for several weeks. To show you how important life is and why the devil is after the human life, I could not sleep or function for fear that I was going to die. I almost believed the devil’s lie that my time to die had come. Until one day I read from John 10, where it reads:
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.” John 10:27-30
This was the scripture that brought me deliverance from the grip Satan had on my mind telling me that “I was good for nothing, and that I was going to die anytime.” The Lord through this scripture, made me understand the following:
Firstly, that life is a gift from God, but the devil wants us dead; however, Satan can only take our life if we permit him.
Secondly, regardless of the pressure we are under, the thoughts of death or dying to end our struggles are not from God but from the devil.
Thirdly, we must fight to stay alive, just like we cannot hand over ourselves to robbers or thieves we should never, never, give ourselves over to the spirit of death because that’s what the devil wants. He wants you to be under enough pressure so you can call your own death sentence and say, I quit! That’s not God’s will. Jesus says, if you hear My voice you shall live. (John 10: 27-30)
And finally, God does not kill anyone. It’s either the devil kills or you give away your life. But the question is why should you give away your life so easily to the devil to destroy you when God has not said, your time is up?
In Deuteronomy 30:19 the Lord said to the Jews, therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live. And in verse 20 He says, “That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
Heavenly Father, I thank you for the gift of life, I appreciate and cherish it
Today I declare that no sickness, no death, no fear, no devil or poverty has the power to take me out of the mighty hand of Jesus.
I cancel and renounce every pronouncement of death I have ever made over myself in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ
Today I declare that my life is a gift from God and not my own, therefore no man can take it away from me nor take me out of the hand of Jesus.
No sickness, no death, no fear, no devil or poverty has power to take me out of the mighty hand of Jesus.
I declare, my life is sacred to God, I hear His voice; and as I hear and follow the voice of my Father, I shall live a good long life in Jesus name.
According to Mark 11:23, I choose Life and I shall live!
