PORTRAYING JESUS

What kind of character or attitude do you portray? If it is not reflective of Christ’s character, then it is not of God. The opening scripture says that our “attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had”. He showed us the way of true Christian living and we must emulate His example to live victoriously in Him. Since we are born of God, we have received His life and nature, thus, we are admonished by the Word to be imitators of God as dear children of God.
Here are three ways we must be like Christ:
He had a servant-spirit.
The Bible says Jesus “made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:” – Philippians 2:7
Jesus had a servant-spirit, being submissive to the Father as He served on the earth. Though He is God Himself, He took on the likeness of men just to teach us that greatness in the kingdom of God is through service. We must also serve God and our brothers and sisters in Christ sincerely no matter our station in life.
2. He was full of love.
Mark 10:21 says, ” Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest…”
Jesus lived a life full of love and compassion towards people. He shared His love for the Father with the people He served and ministered to. We also should walk in love towards all men as we live for the Lord.
3. He endured and overcame temptation.
“Since he himself has gone through suffering and temptation, he is able to help us when we are being tempted.” – Hebrews 2:18 (NLT)
Jesus endured and overcame temptations as a living example for those who will follow after Him. Because He was able to endure, He can help us endure and once we also endure, we can encourage others to do same by receiving strength from the Lord.
Child of God, remember you have received the life and Spirit of Christ, thus you must cultivate the attitude of Christ in service, love and in temptation.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I receive grace through Your Spirit to exhibit the life of Christ in my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
