STAND FIRM IN YOUR FAITH - PART 2

Why do we need to stand firm in our faith?

The Bible verse above says that we may have to suffer in all kinds of trials. These trials could be problems in our lives that we feel like we can’t defeat. 1 Peter states that the grief and trials have come for a reason, to test whether we’re standing firm in our faith and how firm we are standing. The difficulties you’re facing didn’t come so that you can feel overburdened and give up. Those difficulties came to test how firm you are standing in your faith and how rooted you are in the word of God.

The next time you encounter an obstacle in life, stand firm in your faith. Don’t look at what your situation looks like now, look at what you want your situation to be.

Let us be rooted in the word of God like the first tree so that when challenges come our way and it looks like things won’t end well, we will stand firm in our faith. We will stand strong in the word that we’re grounded in. When sickness is thrown our way we will declare, “Isaiah 53:5 says “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.” When we feel cast down, we will declare that the Bible says “Cast your burden on the Lord and He will sustain and uphold you…He will never allow the righteous to be shaken” Proverbs 55:22 Whatever the situation is in your life, from today you will stand firm in your faith because you know the words of scripture. The devil does not have the permission or the liberty to bring you down, you tell the devil what the scripture says. The Bible says submit yourselves to God, resist the devil and he will run away. How do you resist the devil? Not by might, not by power, but my spirit says the Lord. And where do you find the spirit of the Lord? In His word.

Paul is writing to the Colossians in Colossians 2:6;

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him. Rooted and built up in him, established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

As we have received Christ Jesus and received salvation, we should now walk in Christ. We have to be rooted and built up, and we must be established in the faith. We must stand firm in the faith.

Remember the story of Job? The devil killed Job’s cattle, he killed Job’s children, and he caused Job to get extremely sick. (Job 2:1-13) His whole life was taken away from him and his wife looked at Job and said “Curse God, and die!”

the Bible says in verse 10 “but in all this Job did not sin in what he said.”

How would you react if you were Job? If you had been serving God faithfully and one day these things happen to you?

We need to ask ourselves that question.

PRAYER:

Father God, I pray that I will remain rooted and grounded in your word. When temptations come and when the enemy throws arrows in my direction, I will be ready to fight back with the scripture that I am rooted in. I stand firm in my faith, and I stand firm in the word of God. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
