STAND FIRM IN YOUR FAITH - PART 3

Continued...

What happens after? Job 42:10, 12 & 13

“And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses. He had also seven sons and three daughters.”

Job recovered everything that he lost and more! He received twice more than he lost. This story is a perfect example of standing firm in your faith regardless of the circumstance. In all Job endured, he did not curse God once. He could’ve cursed God and ended his life, but he remained faithful.

Just like Job trials and tribulations will come our way, and the enemy will throw various temptations at us, but it’s by standing firm in our faith that we’ll withstand the arrows of the enemy.

1 Peter 1:5 NIV “who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.”

We as believers are all soldiers of Jesus Christ, and we are always at war. The faith that we stand firm in, will shield us when the enemy attacks. When the enemy throws something our way, we stand firm in what the word of God says and we fight back against the enemy with the word of God.

Q: How do I stand firm in the faith?

In order for me to stand firm in my faith, my faith must be strong. Because how can I stand firmly in something that’s weak? The question is, how do I strengthen my faith so that I can stand firm in it? By putting on the whole armor of God.

You’ve put on some armor when you read scripture and stand on it. When you read more scripture and stand on it, you’ve put on more armor. Every time you stand on the word, you’ve just been rooted even deeper in the word and put on more armor. Once you put on God’s whole armor, you’re ready for battle against the devil.

Ephesians 6:11-16

As we read this scripture I want you to count how many times you saw the word “stand” and underline it in your bible.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Three times in 6 verses, the Bible instructs us to stand. Meaning how will we defeat the enemy and all the schemes he has against us? By standing firmly in our faith.

We must remember that the things we wrestle with in this life are not physical but spiritual. They may seem like they’re natural, but they’re not as they appear. There’s a spiritual force behind everything we see in this life. So we need to constantly fight against the enemy in the spirit.

That problem you’re facing can’t be solved by trying to do something physical because it’s not a physical issue, the root of the issue is spiritual. Why? Because we’re spiritual beings. That means that if we want to solve that problem, How will we solve it? By dealing with the root which is in the spiritual realm. When we realize and understand that our problems are not physical but rather spiritual, we will come against our problems with the word of God and prayer. So when the Bible says “put on the whole armor of God” it’s not saying that we should put on physical armor, but rather that we should put on spiritual armor. Which we will only be able to put on as we are rooted in the word and as we stand firm in faith in what the word of God says.

PRAYER:

Father God, as we put on the whole armor of God, we are withstanding the enemy and fighting back against anything he tried to do to bring us down. From today, we are rooting ourselves in the word of God and speaking scripture in our situation. We will not try to solve problems naturally, because we understand that the things we face are not physical but rather spiritual. Therefore we use the word of God to solve any challenges in our lives today in Jesus's name, Amen.
