Our scripture is a profound encouragement to all of us in this new month. Regardless of what you have been through in the past month, I want you to say like David, “But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head." (Psalm 3:3)
I can only imagine how much distress David was experiencing when he wrote this Psalm. He had fled from his wicked son Absalom, who had conspired against both David’s life and his kingdom. The backdrop of this confession in verse 3 is found in verses 1-2, where David laments the increase in numbers of those who joined Absalom to rise up against him.
Not only does it seem as if the whole world is standing against David at this point, but he also feels the taunts of his enemies saying, “There is no help for him in God.”
David responds to this lament in verse 3 with a strong confession of his safety, peace, and hope in the Lord. “But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head."
I declare that in this month of February, a reset of unprecedented elevation will break for you and your family in the name of Jesus. By the mercy of God Almighty, you will sit and dine with kings and nobles in the name of Jesus.
Like David, many people may have written your situation off as hopeless. But God, as He has always given you the victory, will show you His mercy again. And just like God did for David, you too will successfully overcome every single threat and taunt of your enemies in the name of Jesus.
