THE BLESSING OF THE LORD Pt.2

If we go back to Genesis, we find that God began to bless man from the beginning of creation. But the curse came upon man when he began to disobey the blessing portion of the word of God. Let’s see the blessing part. In Genesis 1:27-28, the Scripture says, So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

After Adam was created, the first word he ever heard before anything else was the voice of God saying, “you are blessed.”

To bless someone is to empower them to prosper or succeed. In other words, when God blessed Adam, He bestowed upon him a gift to enable him function and succeed in the office he was assigned to function in which was the garden. He didn’t just look for a job and started toiling. He was supernaturally empowered by the blessing of the Lord to name all of God’s creation without a single mistake.

And so, a person’s fruitfulness/success in life is the effect of God’s blessing and must be ascribed to God and not our effort. That’s why when we get paid, we must return the tithe (10%) and give offerings because we acknowledge that the strength and intellect are an empowerment from God. And without God we would not have come this far. In verse 28, the Bible says, God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful, and multiply.”

But since the fall of man, to be fruitful requires a special blessing and to be unfruitful is a curse. So, the simple truth is that God wants you blessed!

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I have lived on the curse side of life in my finances, business, family and my relationships. Fortify me by your Spirit to cross over into the blessing side of life from this day. I choose to obey your word and to live and walk in the blessing. In Jesus name, Amen.
