THE POWER OF IMMANUEL

Remember why we celebrate Christmas, it’s not just another holiday, we are celebrating because the SAVIOR was born, who is Christ the Lord. The name Jesus means “salvation.” Salvation means: Redemption, Deliverance, To Rescue or To Recover. And Christ means, “The Anointed One.” People have asked me before if ‘Christ’ is the last of name of Jesus. No, it is not. Acts 10:38 tells us something about the Christ.

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Acts 10:38

The gospel of Matthew reveals another name of the Savior. What is this name and what does it mean?

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” Matthew 1:23

Immanuel is one of Christ’s most precious names. It is a combination of two Hebrew words that together mean “God with us.” The gospel of Matthew explains that Jesus Christ received this name in fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. This was the first of the Old Testament prophecies about Jesus to be fulfilled.

For many people, the name Immanuel has a nice ring to it that suggests comfort and hope in times of trouble. And in this season, it is our prayer, my family and I, that you and your family will receive the joy and comfort that Immanuel brought to the world.

The encouragement Christians can take from this name in troubled times, particularly now, when the world is facing this devastating pandemic is not a vague impression or passing emotion. The truth conveyed by this name has both a glorious beauty and a wide range of blessings attached to it.

Isaiah first prophesied the virgin birth of Christ: “Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” Isaiah. 7:14

Let this Christmas be to you and your family a reminder, that regardless of what may be happening around you, and the nations of the world, “God is with us” – Immanuel to deliver us from every evil plan of the enemy.

PRAYER:

Father, we thank you for the Gift of your Son Jesus Christ

We receive this precious Gift into our hearts.

We receive all the joy and peace that Jesus brings

We believe that God loves us, and He is always with us to deliver us

Immanuel, You promised to never leave us nor forsake us

I receive the power of Immanuel to work miracles in my life this Christmas in Jesus name.

Amen!
