We are learning about the works of the flesh so we can be victorious against them.
Fornication is sexual intercourse by two people who are not married to each other.
Fornication also includes sexual deviations such as homosexuality, incest, etc.
The Bible tells us to abstain from fornication: "For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication" (1 Thessalonians 4:3). The body is not intended for fornication because it belongs to the Lord. For this reason, you must flee fornication:
Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. (1 Corinthians 6:13,18-20)
Uncleanness is another work of the flesh. Simply stated, it is the opposite of being morally clean. In regards to the works of the flesh, the word "uncleanness" means being spiritually or morally unclean. The Bible declares: "For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness" (1 Thessalonians 4:7). It is your responsibility to mortify uncleanness and discipline yourself to live a holy life (Colossians 3:5). If you do not mortify uncleanness then you will yield to it. Paul said: "...for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness" (Romans 6:19).
Lasciviousness is the sin of lust, sensual emotions, and lewdness. It is filthy and shameless conduct. The Bible teaches that if you continue to be lascivious, you will eventually give yourself over to it without conscience: "Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness..." (Ephesians 4:19).
Examine your life regarding these powerful forces of the flesh. Remember that you have supernatural, God-given power over all the power of the enemy. You do not have to continue to struggle with these sins.
