WORDS THAT CHANGE THINGS

The Bible places a very high premium on the words we speak. We see that in Matthew 12:37; Jesus said: “For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” (Matthew 12:37)

Jesus is saying your words justify or condemn you. To condemn means to give judgment against you or to pronounce you guilty. In other words, before God, it’s not what people say about or against you that condemn you, but what you say about yourself.

Faith is a creative ability that expresses itself only by confession. When Jesus said to the disciples in Mark 11:22 “Have faith in God” He meant “have the faith of God or have the God kind of faith. What does this kind of faith look like? It is a creative force in God and in the new creation man expressed through words.

For example, God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven…” (Genesis 1:14) And when He did, the universe came into being.

Jesus asked for bread when a hungry crowd of thousands surrounded Him. His disciples said, “five barely loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?” (John 6:9)

But Jesus did not answer their unbelief based on sense knowledge. He looked up to the

Father, gave thanks, and the bread multiplied.

Most people have not made the connection between what they say and what they have in life. Let’s look at the following scriptures:

“A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.” (Proverbs 18:7)

“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” (Mark 11:23)

So, in the same way that the law of gravity governs our movement in the natural realm, our words govern our lives from the spirit realm.

God has put the whole plan of salvation, redemption for your life on the words that you speak.
